New Delhi, Aug 13 (UNI) The Lok Sabha was on Thursday adjourned sine die, bringing the Monsoon Session proceedings in the House to an end following continuous disruptions and deadlock between the government and opposition benches.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and union Home Minister Amit Shah were present in the House when Speaker Om Birla made the announcement after the national song Vande Mataram was played at the start of the final day of Parliament's Monsoon Session.

The Monsoon Session, which began on July 20, has been marked by repeated disruptions in the House.

The Monsoon Session, which was scheduled to conclude on Thursday, witnessed limited legislative business, with no Question Hour and several Bills being passed amid repeated disruptions. The Opposition had been demanding a response from Shah over police action during protests by students in New Delhi linked to the NEET controversy.

On Wednesday, Shah said he was prepared to participate in a detailed debate on the protests over the alleged NEET paper leak. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju also said the government was willing to extend the time allotted for a discussion on the issue.

However, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi rejected the offer, saying the youth wanted answers about who ordered the firing and police assault on protesters, rather than "a lecture" from Shah.UNI VS AAB
